One of my co-workers is opening a bakery/coffee shop. She took me on a guided tour of the space this afternoon. They are about 70% done with the renovations. It is going to be gorgeous! She also gave me a sample of her homemade maple lemonade. She brought 100 lbs of lemons home from her trip to Scottsdale, AZ. She squeezed them and reduced the juice to a potent lemon syrup. She puts the syrup, seltzer water and maple syrup into a cocktail shaker, shakes it all up and pours out a delicious lemonade. The maple syrup gives it a mellow sweetness that is so unique tasting. It would be hard to identify the hint of maple if you don't know it is an ingredient. I can wait until the bakery is open for business. She is hoping it will be ready in February.
