I'm invited to a cookie exchange next Saturday, and because my idea of homemade cookies is getting the dough from the refrigerated section of Safeway and breaking it up and putting it in the oven, I decided I needed to practice before the real event. So I spent about an hour and 15 minutes making "Easiest Chocolate Chip Cookies":

Mine didn't come out as lovely as the picture on the recipe page, mainly because the chocolate chips weren't evenly distributed among all the cookies. They are edible, though. I used Ghirardelli bittersweet chocolate morsels and added some sea salt on top. They have a nice flavor, even if I did underbake the first batch--I'm eating them anyway because they are, after all, chocolate chip cookies.

Next week I get to make the real deal, meaning the cookies that will actually be exchanged, and I'm planning on making Cranberry White and Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies:

I am going to see if a friend is willing to help me, because I think it would be more fun baking with somebody else. These cookies weren't hard, but they did take a lot more time and used up a lot more equipment than the recipe says.
