Yesterday it got up to 101° here (warmest temperature ever recorded in September), and today it's expected to be close to that. I do like it when it gets over 100°, because I feel the weather is accomplishing something. I feel I have the right to complain about the heat. Tomorrow is forecast to be in the low 90s, and then....
The temperature drops 70° overnight and it starts snowing Monday night. Tuesday is forecast to not get much above 35°. Backyard vegetable growers will be very angry. I'm expecting a lot of downed tree branches, because the trees are in full leaf. Hopefully my power won't go out.
That's not even as big a temperature swing as we've ever had. A couple of years ago, we went from 78° to -2° over one day in February, and it made national news. My uncle in Hawaii e-mailed me the story and asked if it was true, because it was hard for him to believe. (He has a hard time imagining any temperatures below around 60°. To be fair, he also has a hard time imagining our 101°.)
