I voted by mail last week.
Completely unrelated (pretty please (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/04/us/politics/election-anxiety.html)?), this looks kinda interesting:
Vulture: Emilia Pérez States Its Case Right Away (https://www.vulture.com/article/emilia-perez-opening-song-behind-the-scenes.html)
I paid even less attention to Cannes than usual (if possible) this year, so if the splash (https://www.vulture.com/article/movie-review-emilia-perez-selena-gomez.html) this movie made there registered at all with me back in May, I had forgotten about it in the ensuing craziness of my summer. Reviews have been sharply mixed (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/emilia_perez/reviews?type=top_critics), but I might check this out when it comes to Netflix next week.
(Assuming the world hasn't ended by then).
I voted two weeks ago. Colorado is a 100% vote-by-mail state. If one absolutely has to vote in person, one can find a polling place to accommodate them, but it's so much easier to vote by mail.
I am SO looking forward to watching Jeopardy! without all the campaign ads.
More soothing self-distraction:
NYT: All Hail the Theater Kid! (We Mean That Sincerely.) (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/06/movies/theater-kid-reinvention-ariana-grande-lady-gaga.html?unlocked_article_code=1.X04.8o4o.-Fe2A_zTqfq1&smid=url-share)
I've always had difficulty with the use of "try-hard" as an epithet — perhaps because there are plenty of contexts in which it might fit me all too well. (This forum, for instance, brings out my inner Rachel Berry to a fearsome degree). Regardless, this article brought a mild warm-fuzzy to a dark day, so that was nice.
Mentioned in the article, in addition to Wicked and Joker: Folie à Deux and Emilia Perez:
The End – Official Trailer – In Theaters December 6 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avvm0e4oNCE)
Not that I really want to think about doomsday scenarios today (of all days), but it does look sort of interesting. Plus, I mean, Tilda Swinton.
(Ed 11/7: Now THIS is more like it, soothing warm-and-fuzzy-wise... although, just to gild the lily, maybe they could do an audio version with Tilda Swinton voicing one or both speakers?)
NYT: How Does It Feel to Turn 100? Ask Winnie-the-Pooh (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/07/books/review/winnie-the-pooh-when-we-were-very-young.html?unlocked_article_code=1.YE4.OBgC.maROIDSAFfRA&smid=url-share)
An imagined chat with Pooh commemorates the 100th anniversary of A.A. Milne's When We Were Very Young. (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/07/books/review/winnie-the-pooh-when-we-were-very-young.html?unlocked_article_code=1.YE4.OBgC.maROIDSAFfRA&smid=url-share)
It has been snowing for three days, since Tuesday night. I don't think it's stopped since then. Fortunately it's not snowing at an alarming rate.

Please get the majority of the snow storms finished this month. I will be in Hayden for two weeks at the beginning of December. I want to enjoy the snow and even some snow showers, just no snow storms....except maybe over the weekend I'm there. ;) :D
