I'm trying to get excited about having jury duty at 7:45 am on the day before my birthday. ::) The excitement hasn't happened yet.

This is a lamp that I was given in 1988 because the owner was moving out of state and he wanted it to have a good home. I haven't used it in 15 years or so because it takes light bulbs with a mogul base that are difficult to find, and that burn quite hot. The lamp also has a scary plug with exposed wires. This week I located a source for mogul-base LED bulbs. ;D I wanted to find out more about the lamp, so I did a reverse image search on Google, and the same lamp came up on 1stDibs.com for $1900. :o (Which makes it the most expensive piece of furniture I own.) This is a lamp that I got for free and almost donated to Goodwill a couple of times because the mogul-base bulbs were so much of a pain. So if it's worth anything close to that much, I figured it was worth getting it fixed up so that I can actually use it without worrying about burning the house down. It is really heavy.
That's it for Wednesday.

Thst is a very cool looking lamp! What a story to go with it. I also have a lamp I wish to some day get rewired and find a replacement shade. It is not nearly as fun as your lamp. When I get home I will post a photo of it. (I am in Charolette, NC fir work this week.)

The first photo shows the original frame for the shade.
Cool lamp. What kind of shade were you thinking of for it?
I am not sure what kind of shade. I can't remember what it originally had. Maybe a blue barrel shaped shade would look good. Or a wide, cone shaped one. I am open to suggestions.
I do love that original frame shape, but replacing its shade would presumably be some crazy custom thing.
Barring that, maybe something with a square footprint (tapered (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lamp-Cover-Shade-Light-Lampshade-Cloth-Wall-Square-Drum-Ceiling-Desktop-Home-Fabric-Protector-Floor-Household/2185600847) or not (https://www.etsy.com/listing/706004692/navy-blue-textured-100-linen-rounded)) to mirror the shape of the block he's sitting on (and then turn the shade so that it matches the block's 45˚angle).
It would be nice to find a slightly dulled hue that sort of matches the patina'd off-red, or -yellow, or -blue of the base (or even just a very pale grey or off-white in a coordinating tone). Linen could be nice, but I wouldn't go too crazy with texture — and definitely no pattern or print; let the base be the star.
