I've been watching a lot of the SyFy TV show "The Magicians" based on the books by Lev Grossman. I rewatched season one which I didn't care for the first time around. That was because I had too recently read the books and wanted the show to be a retelling of that story. Instead, it is based on the books but takes liberties when needed. Although I didn't like what I was seeing I recognized that there is some great story telling. Now that I have some distance I was able to appreciate the show for what it is. And I continued into season two today. In fact, I watched almost all of it. I'll finish it up by midweek and then be waiting for Netflix to get season three.
I read the first book and didn't really like it that much -- too many whiny characters, as I recall -- so maybe I should watch the show.
Quenton is still pretty whiny at times but he is much more likable than he is in the books.
