I just finished watching the third and fourth Apple Family plays, and after being unexpectedly charmed by the first two, I did find the latter two occasionally prone to earnest speechifying and rare moments of mawkishness that even the uniformly fantastic cast couldn't always navigate seamlessly. But I still enjoyed them a lot, and am very glad to have finally seen the entire cycle.
The Gabriels and Frankenstein await. Oh, I did take a break to watch the Public's gala benefit honoring Laurie Anderson, taped at Joe's Pub in February, which streamed last night. If anyone's a fan, it's still up on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbuinUOV9Cc), though I can't seem to find out how long it will remain there.
Also from the Joe's Pub archive, you can watch Alan Cumming's show (https://youtu.be/msyQQc1OtS8), taped there in 2018, which begins with a mostly-Sondheim medley.
