For the technically challenged: How do we set up avatars?

Go to you profile name (right at the top on left) click the arrow and select Forum Profile. You'll see the avatar option there. Even this technically challenged old broad managed it easily peasily!

I linked to my Gravatar. But for those without Gravatar's, Vera's method sounds good. (I'll have to try it. I need a more up to date image, with beard.)

I had tried that and it wasn't an option. But...just looked and it is an option on my phone! I think I'm catching on?

Interesting. Wonder why it isn't an option on the desktop? We'll need to test that. (We're still kinda in beta here.)

I'm did it on my iPad and it was fine. You have to click the little (teeny weeny) circle beside "upload an avatar" - then you get the browse my files option ...
iPads are like phones that way, Mairi. I just did it on my phone, but I'm sideways!

I think that angle suits you much better than the usual one. 😉
Lovely to see your charming face.

The forum software seems to expect a square 65x65 pixel image, so you may have to trim. Why it would decide to put it sideways I have no idea.
Someday when you're bored, teach me how to trim, Chris. It's above my pay grade. I just chose a photo from my gallery. :o
I'm sideways too; does anyone feel like straightening me up?

I think that ship has sailed,
@Gordonb
@David and
@Gordonb, all straightened out -- at least on this forum.
🍸

Did somebody make me straight without my knowledge?

I am the all powerful one. 😎
I corrected the sideways avatar problem. It was a bug (or lack of a feature) in the forum software. I dug into the code for a bit and figure out the answer. I also fixed the teeny weeny (in the words of
@Vera Charles) circles next to the choices. Now they look a lot more like these kind of buttons are supposed to look on an iPhone or iPad. My guess is, whoever designed this theme didn't do much testing on a actual iPhone -- or didn't have one.
