Has anyone seen Kneehigh's T&Y? Took my Year 10s to see it at The Globe yesterday and it was universally adored by us all. Such vibrant, passionate, moving storytelling. So silly and so sophisticated.
It's on at Theatr Clwyd next week. Been looking forward to it. I confess I've been among the grumblers about Emma Rice's off-the-wall Globe seasons. She's a brilliant, imaginative maverick director, and I love Shakespeare being prodded and challenged and turned inside out anywhere from West Yorkshire to Bristol to the National and even the RSC - but the Globe.....?? 😯😐😕😞 T&Y looks fab though 😊

Re: Emma Rice, I'm all for The Globe breaking out of being a dusty museum once in a while, but I agree that a permanent turn away from the original practices isn't right either. But the way she was treated was appalling.
But I do find those sodding pillars an absolute pain. I don't care that much about the original stage when it causes masses of sight issues when I just want to watch the play.
Let me know your thoughts, we loved every second.
I saw Trisan and Yseult 4 years at Bristol Old Vic, which was a great venue for it. Already at that time I had the sense that many people in the audience were there for repeat visits; they were very ready for the audience participation bits! Soon afterward the production came to Chicago as part of a series of international companies visiting the Chicago Shakespeare Theater (beautiful venue that produces a fair bit of Sondheim).
Anyway, you'd have to be a dried up stick not to enjoy the Kneehigh T&Y. Playful, acrobatic, inventive, musical, never a dull moment.
