Also, Groff and Radcliffe participated in Mendez's wedding to her All Rise costar J. Alex Brinson this past Monday.  The newlyweds are expecting a baby this fall, but in the meantime Mendez will remain with Merrily through July.

Wow, Kathy, that sounds stressful!  Sending good thoughts your way and hoping for a speedy recovery.
For what it's worth, a titanium shoulder actually sounds kinda badass.

"expensive week ahead" is the understatement of the year. My health insurance deductible is $2800 and I went through that on Wednesday evening when I fell in my kitchen, realized it hurt more than a simple fall does, and ended up taking a $40 Lyft ride to the emergency room (1 mile from my house). There it was determined that I had both dislocated and broken my humerus. I had surgery on Friday and finally got back home yesterday afternoon. I have a brand new titanium shoulder. A friend offered to take care of Bernadette. Thank the world for that. I am tired of typing with one finger, so that's all I have to report for now.

Movies / Re: Música

Featurettes!  Actually kind of interesting ones!

Never mind the tired "anti-musical" pitch — here taking on a slightly more specific spin than usual, with music itself as the story's antagonist, and musical theatre, of a sort, as its hero's salvation in the end.  (In terms of movie-musical story structure, neither of these twists is unprecedentedly original; and in terms of the marketing, two decades of trying to sell musicals to musical-haters by pandering to their aversion haven't made the strategy any less lame or perverse; but whatever).  Música is chockablock with music, but almost none of it is sung — and then only by the synesthetic hero or his puppet alter-ego — so, while much of its running-time might be described as a sustained (and witty) visual assault on the idea of film as an inherently realist medium, sensitive viewers are largely spared the unspeakable outrage of characters bursting into song.

Yes sir, quite a blow!
Don't regret it, and don't let's go to extremes.
It's called what's your choice?  It's called count to ten!
It's called burn your bridges, start again.
You should burn them every now and then
Or you'll never grow...

Because now you grow! — that's the killer, is:
Now you grow.

I took my car in for the snazzy new power steering pump, and it's going to cost $1700.  :o I'm hoping that by the time the credit card statement is due, I will have received one or both of my tax refunds. I also want to renew my theatre season tickets for next year, and I thought about doing it yesterday, but I then thought that it might be better to wait until after the car situation is over.

I have a loaner car that is much nicer that my current car (power seats, push-button ignition), but not as nice as the last loaner car I had. That one had a heads-up display at the bottom of the windshield. That one also had a radio I could figure out. With this current loaner car, I finally figured out how to get two radio stations, and I tuned to the more-appealing one (a public jazz station). I can't figure out how to tune to anything beyond those two stations. And I really miss my CD changer. I suppose I could hook up my phone to the Bluetooth, but I don't have much confidence that I'll figure that out.

As for the Denver Center theatre season next year, I'm not tremendously excited by it the way I was about this current season (which had ALNM and The Lehman Trilogy), but I still want to renew.

You're either a poet
Or you're a lover
Or you're the famous
Benjamin Stone.
You take one road,
You try one door,
There isn't time for any more.
One's life consists of either/or.
One has regrets
Which one forgets,
And as the years go on...

:P I can't find the radio station. The station that Google said would be broadcasting the game is instead broadcasting a sports talk show.  :(

The Frozen Four starts this afternoon, and I get to listen to the radio broadcast of the game, because I don't get the cable station that it's airing on, and I'm not in the mood to find a watch party at a sports bar. Not today, anyway--maybe on Saturday, if they make it that far.

In other news, I made appointments to take the car in for that new power steering pump I've had my eye on, and to take the dog in for a routine checkup. Fortunately, those two don't overlap. I am getting a loaner car from the dealer, and they don't allow pets in loaner cars.
