I add two and two...
"There's such a lot of different Annes in me. I sometimes think that is why I'm such a troublesome person. If I was just the one Anne it would be ever so much more comfortable, but then it wouldn't be half so interesting." -Anne of Green Gables

"Captain Jack" by Billy Joel!
But us, old friend,

Chris L

I'm going to play some lyrics I've used before (long ago and far away). Back then I used them because the song was by my favorite group, but now it's also because I don't live far from the area described in the first verse.

"Drive west on Sunset to"
But us, old friend,
What's to discuss, old friend?

"Babylon Sisters" by Steely Dan, which I may not have gotten without the clue.

I'm trying very hard to find something that isn't obscure. :)

"When I was just a little nipper"

Hint: It's a musical that Aileen has been in.

...from the 21st century...
Don't know if it won any Tonys at all because that year was pretty much dominated by one show. But the show has had a second life in regional theatre, and personally I think it has a lot to say about the human condition.
