Today is the first day of summer, and it's warmed up from yesterday, but fortunately it's not as hot as it was last Tuesday and Wednesday, which were brutal. Today was also the running of the Belmont Stakes, an event I've been looking forward to for approximately 25 hours, which was when I found out that it was actually taking place. I am normally a horse racing fan, but this year things are a bit unusual, as I guess is to be expected. My picks came in fourth and second (picks I made extremely scientifically by liking their names and picking the outside post positions).

Now the betting can begin on how long before I turn on the air conditioning for the season. Can I make it to July?

We watched the race after work in the break room.  I was able to leave to go home but then they were putting the horses in the starting gate so I stayed to watch.  Two of us were cheering for Pneumatic. I because I liked his name and a co-worker because of the way his tongue was hanging out during the parade before the race.  That was quite fun watching in a small group after the workday was over.
I no longer long for the old view!
