At least I'm not in AZ where it is over 100 F.  Blech!!!

Can't believe the first week of July is almost over.  The time continues to fly by.  I start my new work schedule tomorrow.  I'll be closing two days a week.  That will be a nice break from working days the entire week.  We will probably get a new work schedule in late August and then I'll probably get laid off in  October.  So I'll enjoy any work schedule that I have while I still have one.   8)

:o :o :o

This is alarming. (It has taken me a couple of days to recognize exactly how alarming it is.) It also sucks. Do you care to elaborate on why you will probably get laid off? Not that I can help in finding a job, as I have proven myself inept in filing job applications. :P

All airline employees are facing this.  It's because the aid package given out in March/April stipulated that the airlines couldn't furlough any employees until after Sep 30th.  Corporate is thinning the ranks of management employees right now.  We lost a Shift Manager and an Admin.  Our flight schedule will be lucky if it stays the same as we have right now which is about 50% of what our station had pre-Covid.  They are estimating we are 20-30% over in how many employees of my rank that we will need going forward until we can add back flights.  If we only have to trim 20% I make the cut.  If it goes up to 25% then my seniority/hire date isn't sufficient to spare me.  Our CEO says he hopes not to have to furlough union employees and is looking for other, more creative, ways to reduce our numbers.  I'm hoping a LOT of people take an early retirement package this Fall; way more than took it in Spring.  (Trivia:  There are 3 full-time Customer Service Agents who started with the company before I was born!)

If we could get our act together as a country in regards to COVID the EU (and quite a few other countries) would let US citizens start flying there again.  That would really help increase the number of domestic flights since we need to fly people to the hubs so they can catch the international flights.
