The temps finally dropped here.  Overnight we had a 20-25 degree drop in temperature.  It feels much cooler than it is compared to the super-high temps we've been having. (In the 90s with "real feel" around 100F)  I was feeling so good that I thought I'd make chili for dinner.  I'm making it in the InstantPot electric pressure cooker.  Could be ready in as little as 15 minutes but I'm going to let the pressure come down naturally so it will be done in about 45-60 minutes.  Natural release is when you let the cooker sit with no heat on it and let it cool down enough for the pressure to drop.

Thank you, Tom!  I love that cake!   :)

Quite a day.  After a stressful week at the shop, today I was out preparing a location with four colleagues, one location manager, and almost no one else all day (apart from a scouting crew from another show, who stopped by for an hour or two in the morning to look around and take pictures).

Long story short: today's project involved affixing black and red "marble" self-adhesive vinyl shapes, in pre-determined patterns, onto thousands of square feet of existing (real) white-marble floor in an enormous office-building atrium.  It was physically demanding -- and hell on everyone's back -- but in ten hours of intent, though not frantic, work we pretty much got done what we needed to, and after a weekend to recuperate most of us will be back Monday to finish the remainder.  I began the day frankly a bit doubtful about our ability to pull this off in time for Tuesday's shoot -- but, with steady focus (and so few others around to distract), it was a blessedly calm day.

Plus, my crew managed -- with the location mgr's help, I think -- to get me a birthday card, a cake, and sundry other festive accessories (apparently there was a Party City nearby) for a quick celebration after lunch!
;D

On the downside: the plumbing in my mom's apartment backed up last night and made an awful mess, which we fear may have done some damage to the floors in her bathroom and back hall.  So her day today was spent cleaning, and there's more to do which will probably eat up a chunk of the weekend.  And me with a kinked back.
