Hurricane/Tropical Storm Henri is on his way to New England.  In an effort to have less flooding in the basement, I bought some gutter downspout extenders for the downspout which is located directly next to our back steps.  I've seen this downspout 1000s of times but never really thought about where the water went.  Now, if it has enough momentum, it will get into the backyard and stay there.  I also learned that the piece of wood covering the drain in the basement (now that I know there is a drain in the basement) can be easily moved to let water more easily drain.  I thought the wooden cover was bolted down.  My main worry this time around is the loss of electricity.  If it goes out it will probably be out for a number of days.

In 24 hours we will know how things turn out.
I no longer long for the old view!

Wow. A hurricane is one thing I don't need to worry about, but we've got tornadoes, hail, wildfires and flash floods.
