I unexpectedly have two weeks of vacation in January so now I'm trying to come up with some sort of travel plans.  
(We bid our vacation by seniority and I am last to bid.  During our last round of bidding only January was left because of the "stupid" way management chooses to allocate vacation weeks.)
So I haven't been saving for this vacation and it will come shortly after Christmas.  Thank goodness I did most of my shopping early this summer!

I'm open to suggestions of cheap places to visit or places where I can do a lot in just 3 days or so.  I'm considering a couple of days in Hong Kong and/or Tokyo or maybe Auckland.  I'm glad I like planning trips nearly as much as going on them because this would otherwise be a nightmare!
