I decided to see "A Wrinkle In Time" today based mostly on showtimes.  I will catch "Shape of Water" tomorrow or Friday.

I like Wrinkle.  I wonder if it is going to be confusing to those who haven't read the book.  I wish they had spent more time explaining what is a tesseract but maybe they didn't really need to go into it.  The only thing I can critique is the order of the end credits.  I didn't like that Meg was 4th after the various Mrs.  And that Calvin was before Charles Wallace.  It's a nice adaptation and I even cried a little at the end.  I didn't feel embarrassed about crying because I had the entire theater to myself!!  Hooray for a 1 PM weekday showing of a more kids oriented movie. :)
I no longer long for the old view!

I seem to be one of the few people who haven't read the book, so I may find myself confused. Based on the highly mixed reviews, I've decided to wait until this is on streaming before I catch it. (We don't get out to the movies a lot.) I would know what a tesseract is, though.
But us, old friend,
What's to discuss, old friend?

Apparently the auto insurance claim that I thought I filed on Friday never actually got filed, which may be a good thing because now I'm trying to see if we can get this settled without going through insurance, so it doesn't affect my rates for three years. I think I just grazed her bumper, but she has a Volvo, which may end up being $$$$$$$$ to fix. I hope it doesn't require replacing the entire bumper.

I do not know what a tesseract is. It sounds like something I was supposed to have learned in basic algebra, which means I should know what it means, since I essentially lived, ate and slept basic algebra for a year when I was working on that algebra book. I do know the quadratic equation, however! And I know it's a pain to typeset.

Geometry, more likely.

Um, which one? (You can put in spoiler tags if you'd like.)

I Googled "tesseract" and it sounds like something beyond basic geometry. Advanced geometry, maybe. I am confused by the definition because I cannot grasp the concept of a shape in four dimensions. :(

Apparently there is also a British band called TesseracT (which I would bet is a metal band), and the tesseract is a part of the Marvel cinematic universe.

It's a purely mathematical construct. Mathematicians have no problem working in four, five, however many dimensions you want.

It's really quick.  Mrs Who has trouble using our words so she mostly uses quotes to express herself.

At the end she tells Meg "'Tomorrow there'll be more of us.' - Miranda, American."  It took me a second to catch it.

We have a Tesseract Theatre Company and I never got their name until I just now googled it!  :) The things I learn because of Sondheim (although this isn't really related to the Master, just the message board!)
