I was LIVID today at work.  We had a plane come back to the gate because of a ground stop in Washington, DC.  While the captain was on the phone with dispatch finding out how long this would be I announced that we were not letting anyone off the plane yet.  We wanted to wait until we had a better handle on the situation. I then went back up to the gate so I could start looking at connections.  Two employees who were traveling using their travel privileges (for free) then proceeded to exit the plane and come back into the terminal.  They said they wanted to try to get on another flight.  I could not believe it.  I quickly corrected their misconception that the announcements don't apply to employees and sent them back to their seats.  If I think of it tomorrow and have time I will probably report them to our travel department for whatever correct action they deem appropriate.

In contrast, a flight attendant who regularly commutes to/from work out of our station did not try to leave the aircraft after the announcement was made.  She was up in the aisle when we made the announcement and I really expected her to attempt to jump ship but she did not.

I'm not as wiped out from today (and yesterday) as I might be.  I really do think this has to do with counting my "extra" days as Mondays instead of having extra Fridays.  Only two more days to go and I have a full day off.  I picked up a part time shift on Sunday so I won't have two full days off but a quick four hour morning shift is practically like having the day off.
I no longer long for the old view!
