This is the day I look forward to for at least eight months: the day we get an extra hour of sleep. And that seems like the best birthday present imaginable for Tom.

I was smiling to myself because I thought you were going to say my birthday is your favorite day of the year. 

The extra hour of sleep was perfectly timed for me this year.  Last night after work I went out for a few hours with co-workers.  We were have a get-together for Tyler, who is transferring to Dallas this week.  The DST hour ensured I was able to get a full night's sleep.  I even got up early this morning.
