We finally are getting some snow, after a lot of news stories about how low the snowpack is and how the ski resorts are losing business. We're supposed to get around 10 inches, but from what I've seen, we'll probably get about half of that, which is fine with me, since it's more than enough to mess up driving.

I went to see a new play called Zoey's Perfect Wedding today. I liked it, although I kind of got the feeling several times that I was seeing a work still in progress. The characters could have been more fleshed out, for example. But it was an enjoyable afternoon and I'd recommend it.

The snow we got nearly two weeks ago is almost gone.  It feels like spring is just around the corner even though January still has over a week left.  I'm not going to chalk that up to global warming.  As a child in the more northern part of Wisconsin I remember how every January we would have a week or two period of warm temps.  And then it would get colder and undoubtedly we would get a snow storm or two (or more) before actual spring.  I always felt like this was nature's way of melting the snow so it we humans would have room to shovel the snow to come.
I no longer long for the old view!

It's cold here in SoCal -- not snow cold or even freezing cold, but SoCal cold -- and dropping to 45 for most of the night. Amy, meanwhile, arrived in DC during a January heat wave, which is to say that the temperatures there are probably about the same as they are here.
But us, old friend,
What's to discuss, old friend?
