Those of you who watch Last Week Tonight with John Oliver know that Oliver's staff has put together a new children's book, A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo. It's a parody of A Day in the Life of the Vice President by Charlotte and Karen Pence, VP Mike Pence's daughter and wife, respectively, which is framed as the story of the Vice President's job as narrated by Pence's pet rabbit, Marlon Bundo. (Yes, that's actually the name they gave him.) As a response to Pence's extreme anti-LGBT positions, the Oliver book is about two male rabbits who fall in love and are told by the Stinkbug (clearly Pence) that they can't get married. The rabbits and their friends vote the Stinkbug out of office (though what office he holds isn't clear) and declare it fine for two male rabbits to marry.

Oliver's book sold out on Amazon in a single day. Amy bought the Kindle edition and it's a sweet, funny, touching book that tells kids it's okay to be different, even when you're two male rabbits (or two male anythings) getting married. Proceeds from the sales of the book go entirely to The Trevor Project and AIDS United. Although you may have to wait a while before you can get the physical book, the Kindle edition is available now. Buying it not only supports two worthy causes but sends a message to Pence and other politicians that there are a lot of people out there who support LGBT rights. Nothing against Pence's wife and daughter (especially his daughter, who really didn't have a choice about being related to him), but I'd love to see this book outsell Pence's book by a huge margin.

You can buy it on Amazon at the link above.
