This is a good place to let everyone on the board know that Will and I are going to become grandparents this year!  Marie and Dan are expecting a baby in December.  They seem very chill about how they will encorporate the baby into their entrepeneurial/gig economy/ L.A. is the new Brooklyn lifestyle.

For those curious about such demographics, they have been married almost 3 years and will both be 31 when the baby is born.

Hooray! If watching my parents with my girls is any indication, you're in for the time of your life.   :)

Lovely news Diane.

It seems like only that Marie (and Will) were children and we first "met" them.

Congrats, Diane (and by extension Marie, Dan and grandpa Will)! We hope to meet the kid early on, since we'll practically be neighbors.

And, hey, @iheartgranola (AKA Bevan)! Great to see you!
But us, old friend,
What's to discuss, old friend?

@Diane - LA is the new Brooklyn? When we were in Marina del Rey, did that qualify us as hipsters?

If you lived in Brooklyn, would you be a hipster?

Probably not. ;)

(Though we were both beta version hipsters back in the day.)

We had hipster neighbors when we lived in Mar Vista. We still have hipster neighbors because of the MCM nature of our enclave. Otherwise, I would say the east end of Long Beach is decidedly unhip. Downtown Long Beach has its share of hipsters though.

Back in the day when I had hips, unlike the current undefinable blob that is my central core, I wore hipsters, denim probably and with flares ... I was quite a sight I think;  they hadn't invented hipsters as a human genre but I'm sure that if they had I wouldn't have qualified anyway.

I wore flares with a striped pattern that probably weren't denim. Plus a flowery shirt. I still miss that shirt.
