I'm just here to bitch about how many things I need to buy this week and how much they cost. Feel free to skip right over this.

I took my car in for an oil change on Monday, and they found a number of things that needed to be replaced, from the wiper blades to the battery to the power steering pump to the brake lights (which I specifically asked them about last time I brought the car in, and they told me they were fine). I made another appointment to bring the car back tomorrow morning, when they will have both brake lamps available. In the meantime, I called AAA and had them come over and replace the battery (it was over five years old, so I agree that it needed to be replaced), and I was told I could delay the power steering pump until my next oil change, which is good because it's over $1000. Guess what I'll be saving up for?

All this fun car stuff is in addition to the hard drive that I did buy (I was able to back up the old hard drive before it died), and all the miscellaneous things that I need to get this week, such as trying to get a better rate on my New York Times subscription (I'm not paying $17/month), and this is also the week that the CD of live performances I wait for every year comes out, so I plan on being at Whole Foods at dark-thirty on Saturday morning to buy six copies. (It is not available digitally. Part of the agreement that the radio station has with the artists is that the performances will only be available for a limited number of copies.)

Good news: The new hard drive, which is taking over for the old hard drive, is working fine, without a hiccup. This hard drive is named Hollis, after the character in Bounce. I had several other drives named Addison, Wilson and Nellie. Before that, I had a drive named Fosca. Currently I name my hard drives after ancient Greeks--I've got Socrates and Aristophanes. "Hollis" stayed around because it was easiest for the computer to find files if the drive was named the same as the old one. (Hmmm... what are the names of the characters in Here We Are?)

And anybody who's stuck around to this point deserves a reward.
